"Select All" should become "Deselect All" when anything is selected

For example, see GMail: if you select individual messages, the column header button becomes a ⊟ that you can click to deselect all.
Of course, if you deselect everything (whether manually or using the Deselect All box), it reverts back to an empty box you can click to select all.
We should mirror this behavior. Offering to Deselect All when anything is selected seems more likely what you want to do, and the ⊟ makes clearer what is going to happen.
