Bug #3948
closed[SDKs] File access on keep mount giving I/O error
Description
On lightning-dev2, under the keep mount directory ~/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac, accessing the file 'Loveland.txt' gives an I/O error:
abram@lightning-dev2.qr1hi:~$ cd ~/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac ; ls -la total 1975 dr-xr-xr-x 1 abram abram 0 Jun 3 17:28 . dr-xr-xr-x 1 abram abram 0 Sep 22 16:41 .. -r--r--r-- 1 abram abram 2020720 Jun 3 17:28 Loveland.fna.gz -r--r--r-- 1 abram abram 375 Jun 3 17:28 Loveland.txt abram@lightning-dev2.qr1hi:~/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac$ cat Loveland.txt cat: Loveland.txt: Input/output error
Other files in this directory are giving similar errors. I discovered this while trying to make a local copy of the directory:
abram@lightning-dev2.qr1hi:/data/abram/tmp$ cp -R /home/abram/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9 . cp: reading `/home/abram/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac/Loveland.fna.gz': Input/output error cp: failed to extend `./hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac/Loveland.fna.gz': Input/output error cp: reading `/home/abram/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac/Loveland.txt': Input/output error cp: failed to extend `./hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-z6camrc7rr2faac/Loveland.txt': Input/output error cp: reading `/home/abram/keep/by_tag/hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-smaji1ecb25rl5c/Loveland_results.zip': Input/output error cp: failed to extend `./hu34D5B9/qr1hi-4zz18-smaji1ecb25rl5c/Loveland_results.zip': Input/output error ^C

This collection consists of one block that doesn't appear to be on any of the qr1hi keep servers. Under these circumstances, it is expected that arv-mount would return an I/O error.
Reassigning to Ward to see if there are any operational clues we can follow to find out what happened to this collection.

This block is on another arvados cluster. Looks like our sdk lost the ability to use the old Keep proxy.
We should probably set up a keepproxy there. And then make sure our SDK does the right thing in cases like this one.
